Hi, I am Andrew, a second year LSE student reading history. I am a strong believer that anyone who has the right guidance and a way into a topic or subject can achieve the very best grades. Similarly, with universities I believe that my experience of getting an offer at London’s best university (8 applications per place), according to the Complete University Guide and The Times, shows the strength of my approach. As a fully qualified Tennis Coach I have considerable experience in coaching people and in communicating effectively with people, all of whom learn in different ways. Coaching tennis has taught me important time management skills, when balancing that with academic work. I achieved 10 A* at GCSE (5 at Grade 8; 5 at Grade 9) and achieved 2 A* in History and in Economics and an A in Politics at A Level. I am particularly keen to help A Level Economics student who may struggle with the longer essay response questions, especially if they come from a STEM background where essays are not the norm for assessment. I have been a GCSE English Literature and English Language tutor for over two years. As a student of Cambridge University I have always thrived and enjoyed learning, tutoring helps me channel this passion as I teach to help others find pleasure in subjects I myself adore. My methods vary from student to student as I am completely against the idea of a 'one approach fits all'. Last summer I sat my A levels in Politics, Business and History revising 24/7 and refusing to leave the house choosing to study instead.Choosing to study these subjects was based on my enjoyment of these humanities and social science subjects during my gsces thus motivating me when studying these subjects.As a result I achieved an A* in business. a B in politics and a B in history which alleviated me of my worst fears and meant I could study politics further at Queen Mary university.I can relate to current politics and business students in year 12 and 13 who are preparing for their A levels including the stress and struggles involved in studying politics and business including trying to master essay writing whilst attempting to understand key concepts such as supply and demand graphs. I plan to offer effective tuition at an affordable price planning to use a range of teaching methods such as creating and using case studies to prepare you for these exams whilst administering solutions to problems you face in challenging topics.As well as providing a wide range of resources and effective guidance I’m very flexible being free at some point each day of the week whilst always being available to answer key questions as well. Studying business for 4 years from year 10 when I started GSCEs to year 13 being my final year of A levels has ignited my passion for the subject which is why I’m enthusiastic to teach business and also politics to A level students when considering how I can guide Politics and business through challenging topics and unlock their true potential.
