Hi, my names Anna! I am an 18 year old from London who recently completed her A Levels in Maths (A*), Further Maths, Physics (A*) and Chemistry. I also achieved all 9s at GCSE (including Further Maths). I am currently working as an Au Pair (working for a family, and looking after their children) in Madrid. I have a place to study Physics at Bristol from September 2027. I also received offers from Durham, Warwick, and Bath. I have 500+ hours tutoring experience. I have worked with students aging from 4 to 18. I have almost two years of formal tutoring experience with Kumon, teaching Maths to all ages, and a further year of private tutoring work. I have tutored students previously who have successfully achieved 9s in all of their Science and Maths GCSEs. What our sessions will look like: Before our first paid session I will send the student a RAG checklist, which they can colour code with how confident they feel about different areas of the course. This helps our sessions to focus on gaps in their knowledge and areas they are struggling with, to ensure a well rounded understanding of the syllabus with a focus on solidifying foundational knowledge if necessary. Sessions are 1 hour long and will usually consist of: a brief recap of knowledge using active recall techniques, an overview of a specific concept focusing on inquiry based learning, followed by practice questions with a focus on timing and exam technique. I usually assign homework of a problem sheet on the topic we covered in session, so that the student can reinforce their learning. I also encourage my students to practice spaced repetition using flashcards at home to accompany the sessions, I will help the student find / make these resources and demonstrate the most effective usage techniques. I have been a Private Tutor for the last 9 years, tutoring students who have been finding their GCSE and A-Level curriculum difficult. Overall, I have taught more than 100 students over the last 9 years and helped them achieve their desired grades and university. I have an Honours Degree from Imperial College London for BEng Joint Maths and Computer Science. Lesson Structure: My online lessons mainly happen through Microsoft OneNote. Every OneNote notebook I have for a student keeps track of the following three parts: - a curriculum checklist to make sure our lessons are kept on track, - lesson notes to keep track of everything we worked on together, and - mini-mock exams to help students get used to exam situations. I keep my lesson from 1 to 2 hours, where we use the first 30 mins to cover anything you need help with immediately. For the rest of the lesson, we work on topics that you have found challenging/difficult, making sure we are on top of everything covered in school. If we have managed to cover all of those topics, we move on to topics that will be covered in school. This will help give the student a head start and stay ahead of your class, which will help make school lessons easier. Furthermore, I like to keep students on track with their independent studying outside of our lessons by giving mini-mock exams approximately every 2 months (given we do lessons twice a week). These mini-mock exams help students get acclimatised to exam situations and provide motivation for students to do independent studying outside school and our private lessons. Each mini-mock contains exam-style questions with a couple of difficult/tricky questions to help students prepare for the worst-case scenario when it comes to the actual exam they will be sitting. If needed, I provide proper mock exams to help recreate an exam situation to help students gauge their shortcomings and help them improve themselves.
