Hi! I'm Keerthana, a 3rd year aerospace engineering student at the University of Nottingham. I have been formally tutoring for the past year and a half, and in this time I have had a rewarding journey of teaching and connecting with students from different backgrounds all brought together by the exams they're taking. Meanwhile, my informal experience of tutoring stems from teaching my cousins, which was a rewarding journey that allowed me to sharpen my patience and creativity. Along the way, I've discovered that the ability to tailor explanations to students is just as important as the knowledge itself. When I was doing my (I)GCSE and IB, I found questions easier to solve when I understood my concepts c . Even the littlest missing pieces of knowledge made a huge difference to me. From a young age, I have always been fascinated with numbers and mathematics in general. I participated in the UKMT Maths Challenges from Year 7 to Year 13, where I was awarded with a Bronze, Silver or Gold certificate. I was also ranked as the ‘Best In the Year’ for two consecutive years, and ‘Best In the School’ in Year 10. I was awarded a grade 9 in GCSE Mathematics. In Year 11, I was also awarded a certificate in a Level 3 Algebra with 91%. At the end of Year 13, I achieved A*s in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Computer Science and an A in Physics. I was awarded my school’s ‘Governors Leaving Award/A P Lawrence Memorial Prize for Mathematics’ and the ‘Prize for Computing Studies’. I have taught students at 11+ level and GCSE Level and I’ve also helped students who were struggling with different aspects of Mathematics.
