I graduated with a First from Oxford last year for my undergraduate History BA. I am really passionate about teaching and this year I have engaged in a variety of teaching roles, including volunteering as an English teacher for 3 months in Nepal. I have tutored History and Geography A level, alongside English Lit and Language GCSE for over 3 years. My tutoring style primarily revolves around teaching technique based essay writing improvements, and my students are able to massively boost their academic performance by focusing on these core skills. I am keen to provide a personalised experience tailored to each individual student which best suits their individual needs and learning approach. As a graduate in History, I am extremely experienced in essay writing (having to had to write weekly essays over 3 years). Thus I am well equipped to provide useful feedback and tips for any aspiring humanities student. I always like to be available to any of my students outside of sessions in case they have any queries or requests for content.

Hi there! My name is Clara and I currently study Philosophy at St Andrews University. My life-long passion for reading has led to me becoming an English tutor (as well as teaching other humanities subjects!) I believe that the benefits of tutoring go beyond earning high exam results. While this is certainly the goal, looking beyond exams by inspiring a love for learning is one of my priorities. This principle is carried throughout my tutoring sessions; my main goal being finding a way for each student to learn to enjoy subjects that they may be initially wary about. I achieved a grade 9 in both English Literature and English Language at GCSE, as well as an A* grade in English Literature at A-Level. My love of reading has always motivated my studies and, thus, now my career! I have developed my essay writing skills in both examination and coursework based subjects.
