Hi there! I’m Maria and I'm a 3rd year Maths student at the University of London (UCL). With over 4 years of tutoring experience, I focus on a holistic, engaging and student-centric approach to teaching, whilst sharing my passion and love for learning! Understanding a topic is one thing but understanding what the examiners are looking for can sometimes be a whole other issue. Using my experience, I tailor my lessons to the student’s needs to help them achieve both, whilst utilising my extensive bank of exam questions to guide the student with worked examples and build their confidence. I also share effective learning strategies and tips that make learning enjoyable and easier. This has helped many of my students achieve top grades and personally helped me achieve 10 9’s at GCSEs and 3 A*’s at A-Level/Pre-U in Maths, Further Maths and Economics. Hence, I specialise in teaching these subjects for students of all levels and ages. As well as cracking the code to exam technique, I am happy to mentor students applying for UCL. I am confident I can make a difference having excelled in the admissions exams as well as acing interviews in an empathetic and charismatic manner in order to receive offers from UCL, Cambridge, Oxford, and Imperial. In my free time, I am an avid chess player and sports and music enthusiast. I hope to instil that same ambition and belief in my students that they too can excel in their academics whilst doing what they enjoy! I hold Distinction in International Relations at LSE and First Class Honours in Politics and IR from the University of Manchester, ranking in the top 0.2% of my class and consistently 3 years in a row achieving the highest grades. Alongside my academic studies, I dedicated three years to mentoring students from a wide range of backgrounds, supporting both their academic performance and wellbeing. This commitment earned me a Peer Mentor Award. Moreover, I love to give it back to my community and during my academia I dedicated my free time and volunteered for dog shelters and environmental initiatives. I have extensive experience tutoring through my university, whether helping with admissions preparation, interview practice, or exam revision. Outside of teaching, I’m an avid horse rider, sports enthusiast, and love to lead fun book projects. A quick fun fact about me: last year, I have launched my clients book at the University of Oxford.
