Hi, I’m James, a university student studying Environment, Economics, and Ecology at the University of York. I achieved a Grade 8 in GCSE Geography, 97% in my A level research project, and have a strong passion for helping students succeed. I have been a tutor with Edumentors since September 2025, teaching GCSE AQA and IGCSE Edexcel Geography, and both my students are making excellent progress. I have previously provided in-class teaching assistant support for GCSE German language learners during my A-levels, helping improve language skills, and was recognised with an award for outstanding support. I have also completed a York Students in Schools placement as a SEN support Classroom Assistant at Huntington School, working with teachers to support learning and engagement, and support pupils within the Enhanced Resource Provision (ERP). I will be undertaking a Speech, Language and Communication classroom assistant placement from September. I also have a strong interest in wildlife and biodiversity, having worked as a Research Assistant in South Africa with Operation Wallacea. Hi, I am Andrew, an LSE student reading history. I am a strong believer that anyone who has the right guidance and a way into a topic or subject can achieve the very best grades. Similarly, with universities I believe that my experience of getting an offer at London’s best university (8 applications per place), according to the Complete University Guide and The Times, shows the strength of my approach. As a fully qualified Tennis Coach I have considerable experience in coaching people and in communicating effectively with people, all of whom learn in different ways. Coaching tennis has taught me important time management skills, when balancing that with academic work. I achieved 10 A* at GCSE (5 at Grade 8; 5 at Grade 9) and achieved 2 A* in History and in Economics and an A in Politics at A Level. I have been a Private Tutor for the last 9 years, tutoring students who have been finding their GCSE and A-Level curriculum difficult. Overall, I have taught more than 100 students over the last 9 years and helped them achieve their desired grades and university. I have an Honours Degree from Imperial College London for BEng Joint Maths and Computer Science. Lesson Structure: My online lessons mainly happen through Microsoft OneNote. Every OneNote notebook I have for a student keeps track of the following three parts: - a curriculum checklist to make sure our lessons are kept on track, - lesson notes to keep track of everything we worked on together, and - mini-mock exams to help students get used to exam situations. I keep my lesson from 1 to 2 hours, where we use the first 30 mins to cover anything you need help with immediately. For the rest of the lesson, we work on topics that you have found challenging/difficult, making sure we are on top of everything covered in school. If we have managed to cover all of those topics, we move on to topics that will be covered in school. This will help give the student a head start and stay ahead of your class, which will help make school lessons easier. Furthermore, I like to keep students on track with their independent studying outside of our lessons by giving mini-mock exams approximately every 2 months (given we do lessons twice a week). These mini-mock exams help students get acclimatised to exam situations and provide motivation for students to do independent studying outside school and our private lessons. Each mini-mock contains exam-style questions with a couple of difficult/tricky questions to help students prepare for the worst-case scenario when it comes to the actual exam they will be sitting. If needed, I provide proper mock exams to help recreate an exam situation to help students gauge their shortcomings and help them improve themselves.

I am a recent graduate from University of Cambridge and a current foundation doctor working in the NHS. Having completed a Medicine degree in Cambridge, I have tried, first-hand, various revision and study techniques and are able to identify and adapt to individual student's needs. My personal strengths include biology and chemistry at both GCSE and A-levels, and I am also well-accustomed with the International Baccalaureate having completed the programme myself (achieved a score of 44 in total, 7s in all of my subjects). My particular niche as a tutor are as follows: 1. Medicine entrance exams and interview support - I have a wealth of experience tutoring students through UCAT (previously known as UKCAT) and also BMAT. I have also helped various students in their ESAT. - In addition, I am well versed in organising practice interviews (both panel and MMIs) in preparation for interviews from various universities around the UK. I focus my session on highlighting the individual student's strengths, discussing their personal statement and previous experiences in-depth. I also provide detailed feedback about the session, with clear goals of what to improve for their next practice interview. - I am also able to offer specific help with Oxbridge medicine interviews. Having supervised at Queens' college and also in clinical school, I am comfortable running supervision-like sessions with potential applicants. In these sessions, I focus on encouraging the students to think outside of the box and have an academic conversation. 2. Personal statement support for medicine - I remember feeling very lost when I was writing my personal statement for university 8 years ago. I have a structured approach to guide the students through this challenging time, having a conversation about their experiences and encouraging them to reflect on them. With this approach, I hope to bring out the student's unique talents and make these shine on paper. 3. iGCSE /GCSE support in science subjects for korean students - I have completed my school education in South Korea (in an international school). I personally found the initial stages of learning science subjects difficult, especially in a second language. I am able to provide tutoring in both languages (English and Korean) to reduce students' barriers to accessing knowledge, but also to encourage them to flourish in an environment they feel comfortable with. 4. IB Biology and Chemistry - I have tutored students at various levels for IB biology and chemistry, and adopt a structured approach to the curriculum. It is important to gain a good understanding of the key concepts of the syllabus, but it is also important to get ample practice in the types of questions that the IB curriculum demands. Having gone through this difficult curriculum myself, I am able to offer targeted sessions for my students to improve their knowledge and exam scores. - I am also able to offer help with internal assessments (IAs) in these subjects, having scored the highest in my school that year in both.

I graduated with a First from Oxford last year for my undergraduate History BA. I am really passionate about teaching and this year I have engaged in a variety of teaching roles, including volunteering as an English teacher for 3 months in Nepal. I have tutored History and Geography A level, alongside English Lit and Language GCSE for over 3 years. My tutoring style primarily revolves around teaching technique based essay writing improvements, and my students are able to massively boost their academic performance by focusing on these core skills.
