Hi, I’m Iseabhail! I’m currently an undergraduate student at the University of St Andrews studying French, Arabic, and Persian. I achieved A*s in both French and English Literature at A-Level, as well as an 8 in French, and a 9 in English Literature at GCSE. I’ve focused on building a strong academic foundation that is rooted in a deep love for Literature and Modern Languages which allows me to communicate complex ideas clearly. Through my experience as a Class Rep for Persian at university, I advocate for fellow learners and bring leadership and communication directly to my tutoring. My journey began through informal tutoring and mentoring, supporting my sister, her friends, and family friends through their own exams. This experience introduced me to the various styles of teaching required to help students progress and understand different ideas or concepts. I pride myself on adapting my teaching style to fit each individual, ensuring they don’t just ‘learn’ the content, but truly engage with and enjoy it. Whether it’s breaking down a difficult text or mastering new grammar, I use flexible teaching methods tailored to the student’s needs. I understand the dedication and commitment required to excel in the UK exam system and I am dedicated to helping students find their own passion for their subjects, turning ‘difficult’ content into an enjoyable challenge. My goal is to create a comfortable and encouraging environment, where students feel confident to ask questions, engage with the material, and ultimately secure top grades.

Hi! I am a Masters graduate with a Distinction in Creative Writing, along with a First Class Honours degree in English Literature from Durham University. I also achieved A* in English Literature at A Level and A* in English Literature and English Language at GCSE. My lessons are generally structured around past questions from the relevant exam board. I will usually give students 5-10 minutes to read the extract and make initial notes relating to the question, before going through my own notes and how I would approach the question. This includes close analysis of key themes, literary devices and the writer's intentions, alongside a suggested essay structure which takes students through what to include paragraph by paragraph. I then give students the opportunity to begin writing a response to the question and am available to offer assistance as required. Students can then finish the question as homework and I will provide feedback in our next session - if requested, I can also provide live feedback paragraph by paragraph while you are writing. I'm currently working on the novel I wrote for my Master's degree and gathering research for my PhD next year. I'm extremely passionate about tutoring - my ambition is to become a university lecturer and published novelist. I only offer tutoring in English related topics as this is my specific area of expertise, and I want to ensure I can provide great quality, well-informed sessions. Contact me for personalised lesson plans and friendly, patient tutoring!

I have been a GCSE English Literature and English Language tutor for over four years. Attending Cambridge University I have always thrived and enjoyed learning, tutoring helps me channel this passion as I teach to help others find pleasure in subjects, I myself, adore. In line with my degree in Human, Social and Political sciences, my teaching methods follow a critical pedagogical approach- this essentially means I aim to teach the critical thinking skills needed for a student to learn and analyse independently- this is a muscle which needs training and cultivating. My tutoring varies from student to student as I am completely against the idea of a 'one approach fits all'. A part of the fun for me is learning about the student themselves, allowing me to tailor each lesson to each individual. I have my own mnemonic techniques to help structure and guide memory and learning, specifically using recall and colour for students who find memory particularly difficult. This approach expands to aid the learning of students with special educational needs including Dyslexia, ADHD, and Autism, which I am personally equipped and experienced to tutor. As long as the student is open to learning, my lessons will be taught according to how you learn: some students are more visual, some need writing practice, some need supervised study, some need structure, ALL need the skills to critically think as this will EXPONENTIALLY benefit your child in other subjects and areas of life. The subjects I specialise in and teach at all levels are: English Literature and Language, Politics, and Sociology. The more time I have to tutor the more I can guarantee results, so I strongly advise double sessions to get the most out of the time spent together. Further on this point, if our sessions begin 1-2 months before exams realistically we will need more than a double session a week. I was able to get a student to a grade 9 in his English Lit exam last year starting only a month before, however we had 6 hours of tutoring a week.

Hi, I'm Sara. I offer one-to-one tutoring in English Literature and Language, Business, and History - subjects I'm genuinely passionate about and love helping students engage with at a deeper level. My approach isn't about memorising mark schemes or rote-learning generic answers. It's about building real understanding, developing your confidence, and finding what makes each subject click for you personally. I work with students at A-Level and GCSE level, tailoring every session to where you are right now and where you want to be. Whether that's improving your essay structure, sharpening your analysis, mastering key concepts, or preparing for an exam, we'll build a plan that works for you. Prior to my degree I took two gap years, in which I gained in-person experience teaching English as a foreign language. I'm currently in the second year of my BSc Social Sciences degree at University College London (UCL), one of the UK's leading universities - so you can be confident that the knowledge and skills I bring to each session are up to date, academically rigorous, and genuinely informed by what it takes to succeed at a high level. Going through both my GCSEs and A Levels in COVID years, I know what good (and bad!) e-learning can look like. I believe the best tutoring feels less like a lesson and more like a conversation - one where no question is too basic, curiosity is always encouraged, and progress happens naturally. If you'd like to find out more or book a first session, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Need an English Literature Tutor to Help Your Child Succeed?

A-Level English Literature can feel demanding when students move from understanding texts to analysing them in depth. Essays require clear arguments, strong structure and the ability to compare ideas under time pressure, which is where many students begin to struggle.

At this point, parents often start looking for more focused support. Some choose an English Literature tutor for subject-specific help, while others explore A-Level tutors online or an A-Level English tutor to improve writing skills more broadly.

With different approaches available, it helps to understand what kind of support will make the biggest difference.
