But my journey in science started well before that. As a student, I explored fascinating areas of biology through internships at top institutions like Cambridge, UCL, and the University of Münster. From protein crystallography and bioinformatics to cutting-edge research on aging, these experiences shaped my understanding of science and how to make it approachable and exciting for students. One of my proudest moments was as part of Birkbeck’s very first iGEM team in 2015. We took on a synthetic biology challenge, designed plasmid constructs, and even presented our work in Boston, USA, earning a Bronze award. I believe in making science relatable and engaging, helping students not only achieve their academic goals but also develop a genuine curiosity for the subject. Hello, I'm Arthur and have recently just completed my teacher training with the National Institute of Teaching and have since received my QTS and PGCE. During my training i was gifted with several wonderful mentors who were able to share with me a host of pedagogical techniques that help teachers approach student learning in the most fulfilling and effective manner. I earned my degree in Biological Sciences from UCL and although i have deep respect for all the sciences my passion for biology is derived from it sitting at the intersection of the more fundamental disciplines and everyday living. During my studies i became particularly fascinated with microbiology, with my final year project examining the curious microorganisms know as 'killer yeast'. During my spare time i love to read and play the piano and understand the importance of maintaining a balance between a healthy body and mind.
