Hi, I’m James, a university student studying Environment, Economics, and Ecology at the University of York. I achieved a Grade 8 in GCSE Geography, 97% in my A level research project, and have a strong passion for helping students succeed. I have been a tutor with Edumentors since September 2025, teaching GCSE AQA and IGCSE Edexcel Geography, and both my students are making excellent progress. I have previously provided in-class teaching assistant support for GCSE German language learners during my A-levels, helping improve language skills, and was recognised with an award for outstanding support. I have also completed a York Students in Schools placement as a SEN support Classroom Assistant at Huntington School, working with teachers to support learning and engagement, and support pupils within the Enhanced Resource Provision (ERP). I will be undertaking a Speech, Language and Communication classroom assistant placement from September. I also have a strong interest in wildlife and biodiversity, having worked as a Research Assistant in South Africa with Operation Wallacea. Throughout each tutoring session, I aim to support students in gaining the required knowledge and answering exam-style questions. Each session will be tailored to each student's individual needs and challenges. My sessions are tailored, engaging, and focused on building confidence and exam success. Feedback from one of my students "I’m so grateful to you for being such an amazing teacher. Thank you for all the help and support you gave me through our geography lessons. You helped me regain the confidence and hope I had lost in a subject I love and helped me go from a grade 2 back up to a 7, which means a lot to me."

Hi, I’m Ray, a medical student currently studying at university and someone who’s been in your shoes not too long ago. With a track record of achieving straight A*s and 9s in my GCSEs and A-Levels, I understand exactly what it takes to excel academically, even under pressure. My focus is on helping you not only achieve your academic goals but also develop a study routine that works for you. In school, I took on the role of prefect, where I was responsible for mentoring younger students and promoting both academic and sporting excellence. Whether it was delivering presentations to classes or guiding individuals through 1-on-1 sessions, I found great fulfillment in helping others grow and succeed. Those experiences taught me how to explain concepts clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and encourage confidence in students of all levels. What makes me unique as a tutor is that I bring the perspective of someone who just completed the same journey. I understand the challenges—whether it’s finding motivation, managing stress, or tackling tricky subjects—and I can provide practical strategies to help you overcome them. My study methods are efficient, and I’ll show you how to make the most of your revision time while still carving out space for hobbies, relaxation, and balance. For me, playing sports and staying active was a key part of managing stress, and I encourage finding outlets that keep you energized during exam periods. If you’re looking for a tutor who not only knows the syllabus but also understands the realities of student life, I’d love to help. Together, we can break down difficult concepts, build your confidence, and create a plan tailored to your goals. Let’s make those grades happen—while keeping the journey as stress-free as possible. I look forward to working with you, and whatever your academic goals may be, I wish you all the success in the world!

I have been a Private Tutor for the last 9 years, tutoring students who have been finding their GCSE and A-Level curriculum difficult. Overall, I have taught more than 100 students over the last 9 years and helped them achieve their desired grades and university. If you have the passion and desire to do well in your studies, I will help you achieve it regardless of your current grades. I have an Honours Degree from Imperial College London for BEng Joint Maths and Computer Science. I have also achieved A*A*A*A in my A-Level for Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computer Science as well as 8A*s, 3As and 1B in my GCSEs. Lesson Structure: My online lessons mainly happen through Microsoft OneNote. Every OneNote notebook I have for a student keeps track of the following three parts: - a curriculum checklist to make sure our lessons are kept on track, - lesson notes to keep track of everything we worked on together, and - mini-mock exams to help students get used to exam situations. I keep my lesson from 1 to 2 hours, where we use the first 30 mins to cover anything you need help with immediately. For the rest of the lesson, we work on topics that you have found challenging/difficult, making sure we are on top of everything covered in school. If we have managed to cover all of those topics, we move on to topics that will be covered in school. This will help give the student a head start and stay ahead of your class, which will help make school lessons easier. Furthermore, I like to keep students on track with their independent studying outside of our lessons by giving mini-mock exams approximately every 2 months (given we do lessons twice a week). These mini-mock exams help students get acclimatised to exam situations and provide motivation for students to do independent studying outside school and our private lessons. Each mini-mock contains exam-style questions with a couple of difficult/tricky questions to help students prepare for the worst-case scenario when it comes to the actual exam they will be sitting. If needed, I provide proper mock exams to help recreate an exam situation to help students gauge their shortcomings and help them improve themselves.

Very big improvement given a short period of time with only a small time period of about 3 months my daughter in year 10 has gone from a level U to a level 4 in her maths grade with her tutor Jose. He is a very good maths teacher and has very easy ways of doing hard GCSE maths. What my daughter used to find immensely hard is now very easy. Jose is sadly not her tutor anymore but this was a very great experience and will be looking forward to using this company again for my daughter to get high grades and pass her GCSE’s thank you very much.

Excellent service, highly recommented Booked a block of Lessons leading up to my sons maths exam as maths was his weakest subject and he felt he wanted help. Pia (the tutor) was patient and professional and explained things in a way my son could easily understand. He looked forward to each lesson and felt the lessons gave him the confidence, knowledge and understanding he needed to face his maths GCSE exam. He thinks he did really well in his first exam and we are so pleased we invested in the lessons leading up to his GCSE’s. Can’t recommend Edumentors and Pia enough. Really professional service and well worth the money.

The tutoring times were really flexible and the tutor themselves (Izzy Mitchell) was amazing. The level of communication allowed between the student and tutor made it easy for my questions to be answered quickly. So thank you so much Edumentors and Izzy! Personally, I went from a 6 to a 9 in AQA English literature in just a few weeks so if you are thinking about it, give it a go!

Absolutely superb. Helped my son move from a predicted D in Maths to an actual A, in year. Highly recommend both Edumentors and specifically Apoorv as a tutor. It was easy to set-up, pay and manage. Any issues were solved quickly and without fuss.

Fantastic Flexible German Tutoring We had Imogen from Edumentor tutoring my daughter for GCSE’s. Imogen is a fantastic tutor and through the year prepared my daughter enabling her to get a 9 in German. Edumentor were extremely flexible and helpful in ensuring we could have the sessions when we needed them the most. I would throughly recommend using them for your GCSE tutoring.
