Hello! My name is Saleena, and I am a first year Physics with Theoretical Physics student at Imperial College London. I have previous experience in tutoring Maths and English and I am very passionate about teaching! I believe that a gentle but effective approach to tutoring is best, by increasing first understanding and then practice. My academic journey has gone from having a passion for the law to studying physics, so I have lots of experience in honing skills in different subjects! Additionally, I have achieved 8 9s and 2 8s in my GCSES and A*A*A in Maths, Further Maths and Physics A Levels, so I have a fairly good grasp on how to improve exam technique. Outside of my physics studies, I also write for my university's newspaper as well as writing short fiction, as I really enjoy more literary pastimes in contrast to my everyday studies. My approach to tutoring is very student-based; and will be tailored on a student to student basis depending on interests and which methods work best for which students. Hey, my name is Amrit and I am a first - year student at the University of Warwick studying BSc Accounting and Finance. I achieved a total of 39/45 points for my IB with a 7,7,6 in Higher Level Chemistry, Economics and Maths Analysis and Approaches respectively. For my GCSEs, I achieved a majority of 9s and 8s in 11 subjects including Mathematics, Triple Science, English Language and Economics. With previous formal and informal tutoring experience, I am able to tailor my lessons and adapt them to each student's learning style. I focus on breaking down difficult topics into simple, manageable steps and reinforce understanding through practice questions and exam-style techniques. I’ve come to deeply appreciate the impact of great teaching —something I was extremely privileged to have experienced firsthand during sixth form. The ease I felt when studying for GCSEs and A-Levels, knowing that I was receiving excellent teaching, is something I believe all students should experience. It is this which has inspired me to help students who are in the same position now that I was once in not so long ago. The rewarding nature of this work is something I have come to realise through tutoring for the 11+ examinations over the past year. I achieved 3A*s in Maths, Biology, and Chemistry A-Levels, alongside 10 Grade 9s and 2 Grade 8s at GCSE, by refining a focused, exam-strategy-driven approach. I applied the same method to UCAT preparation (scoring a 2980 Band 1, amongst the top 6% of test takers in 2023) and interview preparation; securing three medical offers, from Barts and the London, St George’s and Imperial. I've since created and delivered an interview tutorial for Year 12s with the PotMed branch of Imperial Muslim Medics, been a mock interviewer in PotMed’s mock MMI circuits, and created and conducted several mock interviews with two applicants (privately) — both of whom received medicine offers in the 2024–25 cycle. Now, I aim to help others achieve the same. For A-Levels and GCSEs, a typical lesson structure would involve initially identifying the student’s current level of understanding of a topic and their weak points, then building on from what they already know, carefully maintaining a balance between guided practice questions, independent work and then finally discussion and feedback. Over the long-term, I aim to implement a regular past-paper question-based strategy to master exam technique. For interviews, I aim to tailor sessions to each student’s target universities (especially for Imperial, Barts and St Georges), helping them build the soft skills and technical knowledge (for example medical ethics, motivations, or knowledge of the NHS), to succeed and secure their dream medical school offers.

Having been through the pressure of GCSEs, A-levels, and UCAS, I understand the pressures students face and have a relaxed yet careful approach to tutoring. This includes ensuring content is thoroughly understood through many examples and exam questions, as well as focusing on exam technique by utilising examiners' reports and mark schemes provided by exam boards to help students write the best answers possible. My experience using these methods is extensive - enabling me to score 9 9s in my GCSEs and 3 A*Ss at A-level in Geography, Biology and Mathematics (as well as full marks in a software-related EPQ), I look to educate students not just on the subject content but also help them learn exceptional exam technique to reduce their stress during exams.
