Hi! I'm Faina, I am a first year Undergraduate Chemical Engineering Student at Queen Mary University Of London. I have been through both GCSE and A level Maths and have achieved Grade 8 and A respectively in each. My non-judgemental and kind nature helps me to create a welcoming and friendly environment for mentees to thrive in. I believe every mentee has a potential to unlock and with my tailored teaching, this can definitely be achieved. I myself sometimes struggle with maths, whether it be making a silly mistake or being completely lost in a topic, but with the right specific explanations, corrections and practice questions, I can and will build my mentees to achieve their best in this subject. I used to mentor the years younger than me when I was in Year 12 and 13, this experience allowed me to not only understand that all mentees have different ways of thinking but also helped me to revisit my past knowledge on the topic. From my 2 years of experience, the most important thing I have learnt is making the mentee feel as comfortable as possible so they can freely focus on the work given. In order for this state to be achieved it is my responsibility to look after them and go beyond the curriculum to have a personal touch with them during the lesson. I also understand that no individuals are the same, meaning each mentee needs their own personal time and specific explanations that will improve their own comprehension of the topic, especially for mathematical skills, this is crucial which is why I will focus on spending enough time to firm their foundational knowledge a topic before moving on. My lessons would start with basic problems to allow the student to tell me more about their understanding of the topic. From this information, I will then begin to observe their style of thinking and tailor my explanation towards that, then I will begin adding tips and tricks onto their current knowledge of the topic so they can slowly build up to have enough confidence to solve more tricky and difficult problems that once looked too complex to them initially.

Hello! I'm James, a 5th Year Medical Student at the prestigious University of Edinburgh. This means I have undertaken 2 years of pre-clinical training, an intercalated degree in Pharmacology, and am currently in my second year of clinical training. We additionally receive teacher training through our "Doctor as an Educator" module. I am offering sessions aimed at helping budding doctors to tackle what I feared most: the interview. I will additionally guide students with respect to their personal statements and appropriate revision strategies. The first session will primarily be used to assess the student's current knowledge of the medical field and allied health professions. The second will be a more discussion-based session covering key topics/techniques and putting them into the context of a medical school interview. And finally, there will be the option of performing some mock interviews to put it all to practice with constructive feedback. Hi there! My name is Clara and I currently study Philosophy at St Andrews University. My life-long passion for reading has led to me becoming an English tutor (as well as teaching other humanities subjects!) I believe that the benefits of tutoring go beyond earning high exam results. While this is certainly the goal, looking beyond exams by inspiring a love for learning is one of my priorities. Hello! This is Zoya! I have just graduated from Oxford University with a First Class Honours. I have over 3 years of formal tutoring experience, helping my pupils significantly improve their grades.
