My name is Tyra Branch, and I am a third year medical student at the university of Cambridge. As a tutor, I strive for my student to achieve their greatest potential in academic performance and instill them with the essential time management and revision strategies to help them excel. My Educational Background: In my A-Level exams, I have achieved 3 A*s in A-Level maths, chemistry and biology, as well as achieving an A* in my extended project qualification. As a medical student, I apply a range of A-level knowledge to my studies, and the foundations of knowledge these A-Levels have provided have helped me to build up my understanding of complex medical knowledge. The specific exam boards I completed exams for were OCR A for biology, AQA for chemistry and Edexcel for maths. However, I am able to research and accommodate to all exam boards. My style of teaching: As a tutor , I am aware that each student learns differently and may be a visual learner, a learner who values verbal explanations or a learner who values high yield notes. As a result, I can accommodate my teaching style to match the learning style of my student. However, my basic teaching style includes providing a PowerPoint presentation with high yield notes and knowledge for each topic covered on the exam specification (specifications are a list of topics to be covered, and high yield knowledge is knowledge that is often and frequently examined within exam papers). I will also include diagrams to help visualise the complex concepts. Following this we will apply knowledge to practice questions to help to understand the information required in each exam answer and practice the integration of our knowledge into different concepts. I hope that you consider choosing me to be your tutor, and I can run through any extra information and questions in our 15-minute free trial session, thank you for considering me, Tyra.

I’ve come to deeply appreciate the impact of great teaching —something I was extremely privileged to have experienced firsthand during sixth form. The ease I felt when studying for GCSEs and A-Levels, knowing that I was receiving excellent teaching, is something I believe all students should experience. It is this which has inspired me to help students who are in the same position now that I was once in not so long ago. The rewarding nature of this work is something I have come to realise through tutoring for the 11+ examinations over the past year. I achieved 3A*s in Maths, Biology, and Chemistry A-Levels, alongside 10 Grade 9s and 2 Grade 8s at GCSE, by refining a focused, exam-strategy-driven approach. I applied the same method to UCAT preparation (scoring a 2980 Band 1, amongst the top 6% of test takers in 2023) and interview preparation; securing three medical offers, from Barts and the London, St George’s and Imperial. I've since created and delivered an interview tutorial for Year 12s with the PotMed branch of Imperial Muslim Medics, been a mock interviewer in PotMed’s mock MMI circuits, and created and conducted several mock interviews with two applicants (privately) — both of whom received medicine offers in the 2024–25 cycle. Now, I aim to help others achieve the same. For A-Levels and GCSEs, a typical lesson structure would involve initially identifying the student’s current level of understanding of a topic and their weak points, then building on from what they already know, carefully maintaining a balance between guided practice questions, independent work and then finally discussion and feedback. Over the long-term, I aim to implement a regular past-paper question-based strategy to master exam technique. For interviews, I aim to tailor sessions to each student’s target universities (especially for Imperial, Barts and St Georges), helping them build the soft skills and technical knowledge (for example medical ethics, motivations, or knowledge of the NHS), to succeed and secure their dream medical school offers.

Most students don’t dislike learning — they just haven’t seen how it connects to real life yet. That’s where I come in. I teach English Language, Economics and Fine Art in ways that make all three click: grounded in clarity, practicality, and curiosity. Because learning becomes fun — and memorable — when you’re genuinely interested. I graduated with a BSc in Management (2:1) from the University of Warwick (Warwick Business School), after achieving A*s in both Fine Art and Economics at A-Level, and ten GCSEs graded A–A*. My third A-Level was in Maths, in which I achieved an A. Those years taught me that the difference between confusion and confidence is often just one good explanation — applied to the real world — and a little patience. In Economics, I draw from real-world examples — from running my own boutique consultancy to lessons shared by the serial entrepreneurs of, 7- and 8-figure brands, who’ve mentored me over the last 5+ years. Theory becomes tangible when you can see how it shows up in business and everyday decisions alike. In Fine Art, I specialise in charcoal — exploring light, depth, and composition. I help students develop the discipline and observation that turns good work into great work. A-Level Fine Art demands both quality and quantity, so I help students build systems that support both. My approach is simple: meet students where they are, make the subject make sense, and build genuine confidence along the way.

Very big improvement given a short period of time with only a small time period of about 3 months my daughter in year 10 has gone from a level U to a level 4 in her maths grade with her tutor Jose. He is a very good maths teacher and has very easy ways of doing hard GCSE maths. What my daughter used to find immensely hard is now very easy. Jose is sadly not her tutor anymore but this was a very great experience and will be looking forward to using this company again for my daughter to get high grades and pass her GCSE’s thank you very much.

Excellent service, highly recommented Booked a block of Lessons leading up to my sons maths exam as maths was his weakest subject and he felt he wanted help. Pia (the tutor) was patient and professional and explained things in a way my son could easily understand. He looked forward to each lesson and felt the lessons gave him the confidence, knowledge and understanding he needed to face his maths GCSE exam. He thinks he did really well in his first exam and we are so pleased we invested in the lessons leading up to his GCSE’s. Can’t recommend Edumentors and Pia enough. Really professional service and well worth the money.

The tutoring times were really flexible and the tutor themselves (Izzy Mitchell) was amazing. The level of communication allowed between the student and tutor made it easy for my questions to be answered quickly. So thank you so much Edumentors and Izzy! Personally, I went from a 6 to a 9 in AQA English literature in just a few weeks so if you are thinking about it, give it a go!

Absolutely superb. Helped my son move from a predicted D in Maths to an actual A, in year. Highly recommend both Edumentors and specifically Apoorv as a tutor. It was easy to set-up, pay and manage. Any issues were solved quickly and without fuss.

Fantastic Flexible German Tutoring We had Imogen from Edumentor tutoring my daughter for GCSE’s. Imogen is a fantastic tutor and through the year prepared my daughter enabling her to get a 9 in German. Edumentor were extremely flexible and helpful in ensuring we could have the sessions when we needed them the most. I would throughly recommend using them for your GCSE tutoring.
