Hi, I’m Raina! I’m a final-year Law student at the University of York, set to graduate with a 2:1, and I bring over 2.5 years of tutoring experience in GCSE English Literature, A-Level Sociology, and A-Level Politics. Academically, I achieved top results—9s in both GCSE English Literature and English Language, and AAA at A-Level, with A*s in Sociology and Politics, and an A in English Literature. I use that subject expertise to help students unlock their academic potential through high-impact, exam-focused tutoring. My sessions are grounded in real exam practice, using past papers, personalised questions, and tailored homework to build confidence and critical thinking—key skills for success at GCSE, A-Level, and beyond. I believe that knowing content is only half the battle; being able to apply that knowledge effectively under exam conditions is what gets top grades. What sets me apart is my ability to explain complex ideas in a clear, engaging way that works across all exam boards. I make sure every student understands why what they’re learning matters, while giving them the practical skills to answer any question that comes their way. Beyond academics, I’ve worked closely with teenagers for over three years, including mentoring sixth-form students, supporting neurodivergent learners, and helping young people transition from sixth form to university. I’m DBS-checked and take a supportive, pastoral approach to tutoring—your child will always feel safe, heard, and encouraged. In my free time, I write and study poetry (I'm a published poet!), and I bring that love of critical thinking and creative expression into each session. Whether your child needs to boost their exam performance, deepen their subject knowledge, or prepare for the next stage in their education, I’m here to guide them every step of the way.

Hi! My name is Isabella and I am an Undergraduate student at the University of Manchester, studying Politics and International Relations and progressing into second year this September. I have a successful academic record, having achieved 3 A* in History, English Literature and Sociology A-Levels. However, this was not always the case; I had achieved a C in my first history mock in Year 12 and a B in my last mock before exams in Year 13. Yet, through targeting the topics and skills that were difficult for me, I was able to improve dramatically in History, gaining exam results that were amongst the top 5 students in my year group of 139. The drastic improvements I made in History also taught me how to effectively revise for English and Sociology too. This personal experience makes me a strong tutor because I understand that successful learning does not come from passive, generic methods. Academic success requires active, adaptable ways of learning that specifically work for you. I am enthusiastic to help similar students gain confidence, expand their knowledge and reach their full potential in their A-Levels. Book a session with me in A Level History, Sociology or English Literature! Teaching these units are my strengths: AQA History The Cold War and Stuart Britain OCR English Literature Gothic Literature (Dracula and The Bloody Chamber), The Tempest, Sylvia Plath's poetry, The Secret History, The Duchess of Malfi and The Merchant's Tale AQA Sociology Education, Crime and Deviance, Media, Families and Households and Research Methods

I have been a GCSE English Literature and English Language tutor for over four years. Attending Cambridge University I have always thrived and enjoyed learning, tutoring helps me channel this passion as I teach to help others find pleasure in subjects, I myself, adore. In line with my degree in Human, Social and Political sciences, my teaching methods follow a critical pedagogical approach- this essentially means I aim to teach the critical thinking skills needed for a student to learn and analyse independently- this is a muscle which needs training and cultivating. My tutoring varies from student to student as I am completely against the idea of a 'one approach fits all'. A part of the fun for me is learning about the student themselves, allowing me to tailor each lesson to each individual. I have my own mnemonic techniques to help structure and guide memory and learning, specifically using recall and colour for students who find memory particularly difficult. This approach expands to aid the learning of students with special educational needs including Dyslexia, ADHD, and Autism, which I am personally equipped and experienced to tutor. As long as the student is open to learning, my lessons will be taught according to how you learn: some students are more visual, some need writing practice, some need supervised study, some need structure, ALL need the skills to critically think as this will EXPONENTIALLY benefit your child in other subjects and areas of life. The subjects I specialise in and teach at all levels are: English Literature and Language, Politics, and Sociology. The more time I have to tutor the more I can guarantee results, so I strongly advise double sessions to get the most out of the time spent together. Further on this point, if our sessions begin 1-2 months before exams realistically we will need more than a double session a week. I was able to get a student to a grade 9 in his English Lit exam last year starting only a month before, however we had 6 hours of tutoring a week.

Hi there! My name is Clara and I currently study Philosophy at St Andrews University. My life-long passion for reading has led to me becoming an English tutor (as well as teaching other humanities subjects!) I believe that the benefits of tutoring go beyond earning high exam results. While this is certainly the goal, looking beyond exams by inspiring a love for learning is one of my priorities. This principle is carried throughout my tutoring sessions; my main goal being finding a way for each student to learn to enjoy subjects that they may be initially wary about. I achieved a grade 9 in both English Literature and English Language at GCSE, as well as an A* grade in English Literature at A-Level. My love of reading has always motivated my studies and, thus, now my career! I have developed my essay writing skills in both examination and coursework based subjects. I aim to find out about my students strengths and weaknesses, offering praise and encouragement when necessary, in order to create a comfortable learning environment. I have found that this enables students to become more receptive to challenges that will aid their educational development. Statistics for 2023/2024: 100% of my Alevel students received a B grade or above. 100% of my Alevel students secured their first choice university place. 100% of my GCSE students received a 5 or above. 80% of my students in this exam cohort secured a grade two levels or more above their predicted grades. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. Thank you for considering my profile!

Very big improvement given a short period of time with only a small time period of about 3 months my daughter in year 10 has gone from a level U to a level 4 in her maths grade with her tutor Jose. He is a very good maths teacher and has very easy ways of doing hard GCSE maths. What my daughter used to find immensely hard is now very easy. Jose is sadly not her tutor anymore but this was a very great experience and will be looking forward to using this company again for my daughter to get high grades and pass her GCSE’s thank you very much.

Excellent service, highly recommented Booked a block of Lessons leading up to my sons maths exam as maths was his weakest subject and he felt he wanted help. Pia (the tutor) was patient and professional and explained things in a way my son could easily understand. He looked forward to each lesson and felt the lessons gave him the confidence, knowledge and understanding he needed to face his maths GCSE exam. He thinks he did really well in his first exam and we are so pleased we invested in the lessons leading up to his GCSE’s. Can’t recommend Edumentors and Pia enough. Really professional service and well worth the money.

The tutoring times were really flexible and the tutor themselves (Izzy Mitchell) was amazing. The level of communication allowed between the student and tutor made it easy for my questions to be answered quickly. So thank you so much Edumentors and Izzy! Personally, I went from a 6 to a 9 in AQA English literature in just a few weeks so if you are thinking about it, give it a go!

Absolutely superb. Helped my son move from a predicted D in Maths to an actual A, in year. Highly recommend both Edumentors and specifically Apoorv as a tutor. It was easy to set-up, pay and manage. Any issues were solved quickly and without fuss.

Fantastic Flexible German Tutoring We had Imogen from Edumentor tutoring my daughter for GCSE’s. Imogen is a fantastic tutor and through the year prepared my daughter enabling her to get a 9 in German. Edumentor were extremely flexible and helpful in ensuring we could have the sessions when we needed them the most. I would throughly recommend using them for your GCSE tutoring.
