Hi, I’m Onyiu, a passionate tutor with 1 year of tutoring experience, dedicated to helping students build confidence in A-Level Psychology, IGCSE First Language English, and IGCSE Global Perspectives. As a first-year psychology student at the University of Bath, I am able to constantly build onto my own learning and understanding of the field whilst simultaneously imparting this onto my students. This enables me to be able to provide that extra depth in my lessons. Through tutoring, I want to help other students reach their full academic potential, regardless of the academic level they are currently working at, regardless of whether they themselves believe they are capable of doing so. I want to be the academic cheerleader for students that I wish I had when I was struggling in school. What sets me apart from most tutors is I know all too well what it feels like to struggle academically. To grind nonstop in the discouraging absence of results armed with nothing but unwavering grit and determination to prove your own academic potential to yourself. But I also know what it feels like to exceed my own expectations, and I want to help others do the same. In terms of my other accomplishments, I have written, edited, and published a non-fiction introductory book to Psychology - "Maybe You Can Read Minds Too: The Only Introduction to Psychology You'll Ever Need (or want)", which is available for purchase on Amazon. In 2024, I also won Northeastern University London's Essay Competition for Psychology, with my essay titled: "To what extent do mental factors impact ageing?" In my IGCSEs, I achieved 6A*s (highest achievable) and 2As in First Language English, Chemistry, World Literature, Geography, Global Perspectives, Business Studies, Mathematics, and Drama. For sixth form, I studied at Cheltenham Ladies College and achieved A*AAA in EPQ, A-Level Psychology, English Literature, and Mathematics (3 marks away from A*). Having written an EPQ has also equipped me with highly effective time management skills. I believe this will significantly contribute to my effectiveness as a tutor, alongside the empathy I have cultivated having experienced the countless trials and tribulations of my own academic career.

Hi I'm Harry. I am currently in my 4th year studying medicine at the University of Leeds and have been tutoring both formally and informally for around 3 years. From my degree I have an expertise in Biology and Chemistry that are 2 of the toughest subjects in the curriculum. I have also got a strong passion and proficiency for History and Politics. As a social sciences student at Durham University, I am uniquely equipped to combine a holistic approach and a more in-depth approach to my tutoring, depending on the individual learning style of each student. I can tutor students of a wide range of abilities, from beginner to advanced, in French and English Literature, having achieved A*s and 9’s in both subjects at A-Level and GCSE, respectively. I can also tutor English Language up to GCSE standard, having achieved grade 9 when I sat the exam. I graduated from Wycombe Abbey School in 2023, where I obtained twelve 9’s and an 8 in my GCSEs, and four A*s at A-Level. I have done a range of informal tutoring for GCSE and Common Entrance, and have also volunteered as an English Teaching Assistant in a local primary school. From my personal experience of being slightly less confident in certain subjects and from tutoring others, I found I really enjoy helping students achieve their full potential and boosting their confidence, especially in subjects that may not come naturally to them. I am conscious that everyone has their own unique learning style, so I will tailor my lesson plan to each student’s personal aims in order to make sessions engaging and interactive. I have full working proficiency in French, and can provide assistance with all aspects of the exam, including listening, reading, writing and grammar. Having completed several intensive language courses in France, one of my strengths as a French tutor lies in conversation practice - I can therefore also help with the oral exam, including the Independent Research Project, implementing complex sentence structures, presentation technique and using sophisticated vocabulary. While I can tutor for all exam specifications, I will be of particular use in AQA A-Level and AQA GCSE, as these are the exam boards I sat at school. For English Literature, I can cover a wide range of skills such as essay technique, text analysis (play, book, or poem), grammar and language. While I can tutor a wide variety of texts depending on the exam board, I can provide specialised knowledge in the following texts: Hamlet, The Great Gatsby, The Grapes of Wrath, The Duchess of Malfi, Paradise Lost, A Streetcar Named Desire, Purple Hibiscus, The Crucible, Jane Eyre, and Romeo and Juliet. I can provide support with a broad range of resources and key skills, especially with the CIE GCSE and the OCR A-Level specifications. For English Language, I can also provide useful resources and support with all aspects of the exam paper, including comprehension, grammar and the extended writing section. As I sat the CIE GCSE exam, I can provide specialised knowledge of this specification.
