Hi! My name is Esmé and I'm a third year German & Linguistics student at the University of Oxford who is passionate about providing students with a bespoke and encouraging learning environment, whether they want to improve their grades, prepare for an exam or work through a tricky subject area. I take a student-centred approach, with my main aim being to boost the student's interest in their subject. I believe this is what fosters the best results and is ultimately the most beneficial for the student! Therefore I adapt my lessons to what the student finds suits them best, finding new and creative ways to support and inspire them. At Oxford I regularly analysed and discussed both literary and scientific texts and presented complex topics to my peers. I am therefore well-equipped to help students develop their critical thinking skills necessary for effectively analysing their English or German set texts. My decision to study Linguistics at university was a result of how much I loved doing topics such as Child Language and Historical Linguistics in English Language A-level, a subject in which I got exclusively As and A*s for graded work. During my year abroad, I consolidated my german language skills and can confidently offer tutoring in all areas including german grammar, writing and conversation. Having attained As in German and English Language A level and 9s in Maths and English Language GCSE and having a passion for language and writing that extends beyond the classroom, I know I can help students fulfil their potential with my enthusiastic and effective lessons. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me. I look forward to meeting you!

My name is Reka, a Hungarian-British recent graduate from the University of Cambridge. At university, I studied Geography, with a specialisation in physical Geography. I also have a love of reading and enjoy casually learning about etymology. Throughout my life, I have always enjoyed helping others, whether as a teaching assistant to younger years in secondary school, or as an assistant in university level teaching. Consistently achieving high grades throughout my education, I always want to pass on my knowledge to others! In terms of experience, I have extensively tutored my siblings in both Geography and English Language, helping them achieve grade 7 or higher even whilst they were predicted a grade 4. I patiently worked with them weekly to improve on their skills and tailored my methods to each of their learning styles. I have also volunteered as a teaching assistant in lower set maths classes, which has allowed me to understand the care and patience those who might struggle more with learning may need. I am a patient and understanding tutor, who will always adjust to individual student needs. I have always loved to learn and through tutoring, I hope to help you reach your full potential, and love each subject as much as I do!

My name is Susanna, and I am a kind, empathetic, and enthusiastic academic and writer. I recently completed my postgraduate (MSt) degree at the University of Oxford. During my time at Oxford, I studied Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and I specialised in English Literature. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of my MSt, I also have extensive knowledge of history, sociology, art history, critical theory, and analytical thinking. I am here to help students engage in Oxford-style critical thinking and writing to prepare for university interviews and exams, as well as current and future essays. Prior to this, I studied English Literature at the University of Edinburgh, where I obtained a first-class degree. Alongside my undergraduate degree, I took part in collaborative writing workshops with award-winning poets, and my fellow students. Outside of my academic work, I am a published poet and essayist, and I look forward to offering advice and comments on students' work, as well as providing creative inspiration to the next generation of budding writers.

My name is Michelle and I am a legal professional based in the United Kingdom with a passion for language, communication, and helping others reach their potential. Originally from Ghana, I completed my IGCSEs and A levels before pursuing a degree in Political Science and French, which included a year abroad in France. That experience deepened my appreciation for language and its power to open doors such as connecting with people across cultures. I subsequently completed a law degree at the University of Birmingham and the Legal Practice Course at University of Law. I now work as an in-house paralegal managing complex legal matters on a daily basis. My legal career has given me a strong foundation in written and verbal communication. Drafting clear, precise and well structured documents is central to everything I do professionally, and I am confident I will be able to bring that same attention to tutoring. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy hiking, exercising and journaling.

At GCSE level, I achieved grade 9s in all of my Humanities subjects, including English Language, English Literature, and History. Passionate about education, language, and the ways in which they interact in our everyday lives, I pursued the study of English Literature, History, and Psychology at A Level, alongside completing an EPQ. Achieving an A* in History and full marks in my English Literature coursework, I chose to continue my study of English at university. Throughout the past three years, I have worked formally as a tutor for both English Language GCSE and English Literature GCSE. My approach is constantly evolving and is led by the belief that enjoyment of learning is the prerequisite to success. Therefore, I always strive to identify the most effective learning style for each individual student and help to embed enjoyment of learning into the process of working towards academic aspirations. Further to my formal tutoring experience, I have led workshops for the National Literacy Trust for children from disadvantaged backgrounds regarding literacy, guided students and my peers to improving their GCSE grades beyond teacher prediction, and have coached table tennis for people of all ages (leading to the completion of an advanced DBS check and safeguarding course).
