Hi! I’m a second-year Geography student at the University of Birmingham with a genuine passion for helping students unlock their full potential. Although I was initially predicted CCD at A-level, I achieved AAB on results day, something I’m incredibly proud of. This experience has shaped the way I tutor. Tutoring will allow me to share the advice that I once received - and offer guidance wherever I can. As of February, I have offered weekly English literature/ language lessons for a GCSE student, providing me with the experience to confidently support students in their learning. I hope to make my lessons as accessible and affordable as I can - and I am open to any feedback on how I can make adjustments/ improvements. With your exam board and texts, I can gather, share and discuss a variety of example essays/ resources with you. My approach is one that encourages dynamic and open discussions to embrace the individual academic interests and passions of each student - and build a curiosity in the subject. This enables students to freely navigate the many interpretations and nuances offered by literary texts alongside the authorial intentions attached to them. To develop students' independent critical thinking and analytical skills, each lesson will keep the close analysis of language and structure as a focal point.

Hi, I am Andrew, an LSE student reading history. I am a strong believer that anyone who has the right guidance and a way into a topic or subject can achieve the very best grades. Similarly, with universities I believe that my experience of getting an offer at London’s best university (8 applications per place), according to the Complete University Guide and The Times, shows the strength of my approach. As a fully qualified Tennis Coach I have considerable experience in coaching people and in communicating effectively with people, all of whom learn in different ways. Coaching tennis has taught me important time management skills, when balancing that with academic work. I achieved 10 A* at GCSE (5 at Grade 8; 5 at Grade 9) and achieved 2 A* in History and in Economics and an A in Politics at A Level. I am particularly keen to help A Level Economics student who may struggle with the longer essay response questions, especially if they come from a STEM background where essays are not the norm for assessment. I am also interested in helping A Level History and Politics students. Likewise, I feel that I have much to offer GCSE students in Geography and History where I achieved two grade 9s. I am Alice, a first class Classics graduate from Oxford University. I have been tutoring formally for four years and I offer tutoring for English Language, History, Geography, Biology, Chemistry and Maths up to GCSE level, as well as Latin and Greek up to A level standard. I achieved 9s in all of these subjects, with 98% in History, 97% in Geography (top in the exam board), 98% in Maths (and 94% in Additional Mathematics), 98% in Latin, and 97% in Greek (I did not receive percentages in Chemistry and Biology but achieved 97 and 99% respectively in my mocks). I can also provide mentorship for University applications, particularly for Oxbridge. My tutoring style consists of both general teaching (such as Latin, Greek and English Language from scratch) as well as specification-based teaching. My main focus is on inspiring confidence and encouraging productive revision techniques, including an emphasis on past papers and tailoring one's answers to what the exam board wants.
