Find Your Perfect English Literature Tutor In London

Hello! My name is Saleena, and I am a first year Physics with Theoretical Physics student at Imperial College London. I have previous experience in tutoring Maths and English and I am very passionate about teaching! I believe that a gentle but effective approach to tutoring is best, by increasing first understanding and then practice. My academic journey has gone from having a passion for the law to studying physics, so I have lots of experience in honing skills in different subjects! Additionally, I have achieved 8 9s and 2 8s in my GCSES and A*A*A in Maths, Further Maths and Physics A Levels, so I have a fairly good grasp on how to improve exam technique. Outside of my physics studies, I also write for my university's newspaper as well as writing short fiction, as I really enjoy more literary pastimes in contrast to my everyday studies. My approach to tutoring is very student-based; and will be tailored on a student to student basis depending on interests and which methods work best for which students. At the end of the day, my goal is to help students achieve their full potential and to help them enjoy doing it!

Hi, I am currently a 4th year Oxford undergraduate studying Classics and English Literature. I have been tutoring cor about 5 years now. I really enjoy helping students get more confident with their writing and help them get to know a text better through close analysis practise.

Hi! My name is Victoria and I was a student at St Dominic's Sixth Form College. In my A-Levels, I achieved an A* in English Literature, A in Law and A in Mathematics. I was also awarded a perfect score in my EPQ which was based on American politics (particularly, the factors influencing presidential success). I have always been a keen and enthusiastic learner, and I find great joy in being able to assist others in finding that same passion and enthusiasm for studies. I am punctual, reliable, and capable of adapting my style of teaching to best accommodate to students' individual needs - I know that everyone is capable of achieving the grades they dream of and I'm confident in my ability to help them get there :) For a bit of background, during my time at sixth form and since, I was a finalist in the Northeastern University London Essay Competition regarding copyright infringement claims; I participated in a mooting competition which examined the interpretation of reliance under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, in which my team was one of few to qualify for the advocacy stage; I completed Slaughter & May's commercial work experience programme which involved a detailed analysis of the Bribery Act 2010, etc. These experiences helped me to develop the skills I need to be a fantastic tutor: speaking in a confident and articulate manner, composing compelling arguments and preparing focused resources. I'd really love to help you see your child succeed, and given the opportunity to do so I will ensure they achieve their desired grades. Thank you for considering me! :)

I am Tanisha Kirpalani, a Medical student at the University of Manchester. I am an IB graduate from Dulwich College Singapore, where I achieved a 42 with 7s in Biology Chemistry Psych HL and Math AA SL, as well as an A in my Extended Essay and TOK. believe in tailoring my teaching to the individual needs of each student and , recognizing that everyone learns differently, and prioritizing weaker areas that need more focus. Finally, at the core of any big exam lies a vital and often overlooked component - the 'markscheme'. As a tutor I aim to develop an in-depth understanding of this in students to help them score better in the tests and interviews they will face.

Hello! My name is Amina, and I’m passionate about helping students unlock their full potential through personalized, engaging tutoring sessions. I have an academic background in mathematics, geography, and English literature, which allows me to offer a unique, interdisciplinary approach to learning. My tutoring style is adaptable and student-centered. I believe that every student learns differently, so I focus on identifying individual strengths and challenges to create tailored lessons that build confidence and foster a genuine understanding of the subject matter. For mathematics, I emphasize problem-solving techniques and real-world applications to make abstract concepts more accessible. In geography, I help students connect theoretical knowledge with current global issues, while in English literature, I guide them in developing critical thinking and analytical skills to interpret texts deeply and thoughtfully. Beyond academics, I strive to create a supportive, patient, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and expressing their ideas.

Hi! I’m Kyla, a 4th-year medical student with a passion for helping students actually understand science and math without the stress. Having gone through the academic ringer myself—from Triple Science at GCSE to tackling Physics, Maths, and Chemistry at A-Level—I know firsthand how overwhelming these subjects can feel when you’re staring at a hefty textbook. Now, four years into medical school, I use those exact same foundational skills every single day. My approach to tutoring is simple: no robotic memorization and no rigid lectures. Having spent years learning complex topics quickly, I specialise in taking intimidating concepts and translating them into plain, everyday English. I focus on building real problem-solving confidence and teaching exam techniques that actually work. Because I’m actively studying medicine, my schedule is focused, but it also means my own study habits and exam strategies are sharp and up to date. I get the pressure students are under, and my goal is to be a supportive, approachable mentor who makes learning feel manageable (and maybe even a little fun). Whether you’re gearing up for GCSEs, pushing for top grades in A-Levels, or just trying to keep your head above water in science, I’d love to help you reach your goals. Drop me a message and let's chat about what you're looking for!

Hello, I’m Jasmine, and I am a researcher at the University of Cambridge, unravelling the fundamentals of the gut microbiome. My style of tutoring is primarily through focusing on exactly the answers that examiners are looking for by studying the mark scheme. From my personal experience of tutoring, I found this was the best way to maximise the points I get and receiving the “nitpicky” marks that are awarded when an answer is correctly and properly worded. I also believe in breaking a topic down into the fundamentals to make sure a good basis foundation is applied. In my free time, I am an avid actor (participated in Edinburgh Fringe Festival) and have won many awards through school and undergrad. With this passion, it helps to communicate and engage with the student to pass on my eagerness for the subject, to them. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me! I hope to instil the same enthusiasm I have when teaching, to you and/or your student, and to make sure they excel :)

Hi! I'm a fourth-year medical student at Imperial College London with a passion for teaching and mentoring. I achieved straight 9s at GCSE and A*s at A level, and I love helping students reach their full potential. I create custom note sets and mock exams, and tailor my sessions to each individual’s needs. I've guided many students through successful medical applications, from personal statements to interviews. Outside of medicine, I’m a big fan of football and badminton!

Hi, I'm Sara. I offer one-to-one tutoring in English Literature and Language, Business, and History - subjects I'm genuinely passionate about and love helping students engage with at a deeper level. My approach isn't about memorising mark schemes or rote-learning generic answers. It's about building real understanding, developing your confidence, and finding what makes each subject click for you personally. I work with students at A-Level and GCSE level, tailoring every session to fit where you are right now and where you want to be. Whether that's improving your essay structure or analysis, mastering key concepts, or preparing for an exam, we'll build a plan that works for you. Prior to my degree I took two gap years, in which I gained in-person experience teaching English as a foreign language. I'm currently in the third year of my BSc Social Sciences degree at University College London (UCL), one of the UK's leading universities. You can be confident that the knowledge and skills I bring to each session are up to date, academically rigorous, and genuinely informed by what it takes to succeed at a high level. Going through both my GCSEs and A Levels in COVID years, I know what good (and bad!) e-learning can look like. I believe the best tutoring is when no question is too basic, curiosity is always encouraged, and progress happens naturally. If you'd like to find out more or book a first session, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
