A-Level English Literature Tutors

Hi there! My name is Clara and I currently study Philosophy at St Andrews University. My life-long passion for reading has led to me becoming an English tutor (as well as teaching other humanities subjects!) I believe that the benefits of tutoring go beyond earning high exam results. While this is certainly the goal, looking beyond exams by inspiring a love for learning is one of my priorities. This principle is carried throughout my tutoring sessions; my main goal being finding a way for each student to learn to enjoy subjects that they may be initially wary about. I achieved a grade 9 in both English Literature and English Language at GCSE, as well as an A* grade in English Literature at A-Level. My love of reading has always motivated my studies and, thus, now my career! I have developed my essay writing skills in both examination and coursework based subjects. I aim to find out about my students strengths and weaknesses, offering praise and encouragement when necessary, in order to create a comfortable learning environment. I have found that this enables students to become more receptive to challenges that will aid their educational development. Statistics for 2023/2024: 100% of my Alevel students received a B grade or above. 100% of my Alevel students secured their first choice university place. 100% of my GCSE students received a 5 or above. 80% of my students in this exam cohort secured a grade two levels or more above their predicted grades. Hello, My name is Pia, and I am currently a first-year student studying Economics and Management at King’s College London. Studying Mathematics, Economics, and English Literature and an EPQ at A Level piqued my interest in dynamic current affairs. Consequently, I am interested in starting my career in Global Markets and have recently received Spring Week offers from both Bank of America and Rothschild & co. My desire to tutor students was catalysed by my role as chair of the Junior Debating society at school; I was challenged to understand my students’ capabilities and implement strategies to maximise their success at regional debating competitions. I have followed this interest to university, where I was successful in my application for Debate-mate, a non profit organisation. As a mentor, I teach debating to children from underprivileged backgrounds in schools around London. As a tutor at Edumentors, not only do I aim to support students for upcoming exams.
