I am currently studying BSc Economics at Queen Mary University of London, where mathematics is an important part of my degree through quantitative analysis, statistics and economic modelling. At A-Level, I studied Mathematics and Further Mathematics, which gave me a strong foundation across pure mathematics, statistics and mechanics. I also have practical teaching experience. From November 2023 to August 2024, I taught guitar at a music school, working with both individual students and small groups of up to four. This included teaching several children with special educational needs. This experience helped me develop adaptability and the ability to explain the same idea in different ways. I have also tutored friends and people referred to me through recommendations in maths and physics, both on a paid and voluntary basis. My main goal as a teacher is to help someone move from feeling confused by a topic or task to finding and understanding the logic behind it. In mathematics, I focus on understanding rather than simply memorising methods. I aim to identify where a student is struggling, break difficult concepts into clear and manageable steps, and then reinforce them through guided examples and exam-style questions. For GCSE students, I focus on strengthening foundations, addressing gaps in knowledge and improving exam technique. For A-Level students, I place greater emphasis on deeper mathematical understanding, efficient problem-solving and recognising the appropriate method in unfamiliar questions. I am patient, organised and approachable, while still encouraging students to challenge themselves. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to develop the confidence and independence to approach mathematical problems successfully on their own.

I am currently a student at the University of Birmingham entering my third year studying medicine. I have elected to tutor students who need help with chemistry and Maths. I have chosen to tutor students as I believe having that helping hand is what some students will need to push them towards that higher grade especially from a students perspective. I believe I am dedicated, determined and patient which I believe are attributes required to tutor in any subject or to teach any skill. I have chosen to tutor students who need help with maths due to the fact that I love maths (although my course isn’t necessarily maths heavy). I believe that the accolades I have achieved (an A* at A-level, a 9 at GCSE and the silver award in the UK senior maths challenge in the 22-23 year) as well as my hatred for the subject of english will make me a great candidate to tutor students who may struggle with math especially the applied part of maths which is my personal favourite. I have also chosen to tutor chemistry because I also have a passion for chemistry. I believe that out of the sciences, chemistry was the easiest to get the marks in if you know and understand the question. Although I didn’t achieve an A* at A-level (6 infuriating marks off) I really thrived at chemistry at GCSE and A-level and would love to help students who dont feel as confident. Furthermore, as someone who studies the chemistry of the body, i can understand how daunting it may be to learn the most absurd names of certain chemical compounds however this is perhaps one of the easier parts of studying chemistry and not only this but it also has a huge maths component whether it is balancing equations or using formulas. I have some tutoring experience such as teaching Arabic at my local mosques, helping students sitting the 11+ exam (including some very heated sessions with my brother who got in) and most recently aiding year 13 students who had the medical school interviews coming up. I understand the type of tutoring I am applying for now is different however ad i have already mentioned i have. A love for chemistry and maths and hence i dont see this ass a job and more-so a hobby.
