I have been a GCSE English Literature and English Language tutor for over four years. Attending Cambridge University I have always thrived and enjoyed learning, tutoring helps me channel this passion as I teach to help others find pleasure in subjects, I myself, adore. In line with my degree in Human, Social and Political sciences, my teaching methods follow a critical pedagogical approach- this essentially means I aim to teach the critical thinking skills needed for a student to learn and analyse independently- this is a muscle which needs training and cultivating. My tutoring varies from student to student as I am completely against the idea of a 'one approach fits all'. A part of the fun for me is learning about the student themselves, allowing me to tailor each lesson to each individual. I have my own mnemonic techniques to help structure and guide memory and learning, specifically using recall and colour for students who find memory particularly difficult. This approach expands to aid the learning of students with special educational needs including Dyslexia, ADHD, and Autism, which I am personally equipped and experienced to tutor. As long as the student is open to learning, my lessons will be taught according to how you learn: some students are more visual, some need writing practice, some need supervised study, some need structure, ALL need the skills to critically think as this will EXPONENTIALLY benefit your child in other subjects and areas of life. The subjects I specialise in and teach at all levels are: English Literature and Language, Politics, and Sociology. The more time I have to tutor the more I can guarantee results, so I strongly advise double sessions to get the most out of the time spent together. Further on this point, if our sessions begin 1-2 months before exams realistically we will need more than a double session a week. I was able to get a student to a grade 9 in his English Lit exam last year starting only a month before, however we had 6 hours of tutoring a week.

I have been a Private Tutor for the last 9 years, tutoring students who have been finding their GCSE and A-Level curriculum difficult. Overall, I have taught more than 100 students over the last 9 years and helped them achieve their desired grades and university. Lesson Structure: My online lessons mainly happen through Microsoft OneNote. Every OneNote notebook I have for a student keeps track of the following three parts: - a curriculum checklist to make sure our lessons are kept on track, - lesson notes to keep track of everything we worked on together, and - mini-mock exams to help students get used to exam situations. I keep my lesson from 1 to 2 hours, where we use the first 30 mins to cover anything you need help with immediately. For the rest of the lesson, we work on topics that you have found challenging/difficult, making sure we are on top of everything covered in school. If we have managed to cover all of those topics, we move on to topics that will be covered in school. This will help give the student a head start and stay ahead of your class, which will help make school lessons easier. Furthermore, I like to keep students on track with their independent studying outside of our lessons by giving mini-mock exams approximately every 2 months (given we do lessons twice a week). These mini-mock exams help students get acclimatised to exam situations and provide motivation for students to do independent studying outside school and our private lessons. Each mini-mock contains exam-style questions with a couple of difficult/tricky questions to help students prepare for the worst-case scenario when it comes to the actual exam they will be sitting. If needed, I provide proper mock exams to help recreate an exam situation to help students gauge their shortcomings and help them improve themselves.
