I am currently a student at the University of Birmingham entering my third year studying medicine. I have elected to tutor students who need help with chemistry and Maths. I have chosen to tutor students as I believe having that helping hand is what some students will need to push them towards that higher grade especially from a students perspective. I believe I am dedicated, determined and patient which I believe are attributes required to tutor in any subject or to teach any skill. I have chosen to tutor students who need help with maths due to the fact that I love maths (although my course isn’t necessarily maths heavy). I believe that the accolades I have achieved (an A* at A-level, a 9 at GCSE and the silver award in the UK senior maths challenge in the 22-23 year) as well as my hatred for the subject of english will make me a great candidate to tutor students who may struggle with math especially the applied part of maths which is my personal favourite. I have also chosen to tutor chemistry because I also have a passion for chemistry. I believe that out of the sciences, chemistry was the easiest to get the marks in if you know and understand the question. Although I didn’t achieve an A* at A-level (6 infuriating marks off) I really thrived at chemistry at GCSE and A-level and would love to help students who dont feel as confident. Furthermore, as someone who studies the chemistry of the body, i can understand how daunting it may be to learn the most absurd names of certain chemical compounds however this is perhaps one of the easier parts of studying chemistry and not only this but it also has a huge maths component whether it is balancing equations or using formulas. I have some tutoring experience such as teaching Arabic at my local mosques, helping students sitting the 11+ exam (including some very heated sessions with my brother who got in) and most recently aiding year 13 students who had the medical school interviews coming up. I understand the type of tutoring I am applying for now is different however ad i have already mentioned i have. A love for chemistry and maths and hence i dont see this ass a job and more-so a hobby.

Hi, I’m Abarna! I’m a third-year medical student with over four years of tutoring experience, supporting students from Key Stage 2 through to A-Level. I specialise in 11+ preparation, Maths, Sciences and English, and I’m passionate about helping students build confidence, strengthen their understanding and achieve their academic goals. Having achieved A* grades at A-Level and successfully secured a place at medical school, I understand the dedication, resilience and effective study techniques needed to succeed in competitive exams. I also mentor aspiring medical students through Medic Mentor, supporting students with UCAT preparation, personal statements, interview practice and academic tutoring. I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to suit their individual strengths, learning style and areas for improvement. My sessions are engaging, supportive and structured, with a strong focus on making difficult topics feel clear and manageable. Alongside improving grades, I aim to help students develop effective revision techniques, stronger study habits and the confidence to become more independent learners. I always encourage questions and create a positive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. Whether your child is preparing for the 11+, working towards top GCSE or A-Level grades, or simply needs extra support and confidence in a subject, I’m committed to helping them make meaningful progress and reach their full potential.
