King's College London - Medicine student
Hello! My name is Naim, and I am a student in my 2nd year at King's College London, currently pursuing a degree in Medicine, one of the most competitive courses in the UK. I am a driven and dedicated tutor, reinforced by the members of my community, family and friends that I have worked with and guided to realise their potential.
Throughout my life, I have cultivated a hard-working and diligent attitude that I am immensely proud of, and one which has been recognised through my soaring achievements. In 2023 I achieved a 44 points total in the International Baccalaureate (IB) at my sixth form, placing me in the top 1.5% of candidates worldwide, complimented by individual subject awards for exceptional performance in IB Biology and IB Chemistry, and a strong prior foundation at GCSE level, where I attained consistent 9s and 8s. I believe my accomplishments speak to not only my academic prowess, but more importantly my strength of character, my resilience and my ambition. Since leaving sixth form and entering university, I routinely hear from my old teachers that my exam papers and personal statements are used as exemplar pieces of work in order to help current students navigate the sometimes overwhelming nature of full-time education in the later years. Even now, I have used the lessons I have learnt in sixth form to graduate my first year of university amongst the top 5% of final exam scorers.
As a tutor, I aim to first and foremost empower the student. What that means for me is giving them the toolkit and necessary knowledge to succeed, fostering a supportive and interactive learning environment, and most importantly moulding my sessions around the strengths, weaknesses, learning styles, needs and nuances of each student. My tutees, from an age range of 14-17 have seen on average a +2 grade increase in the subjects I tutor as a direct result of my tailored approach to tutoring.
My tutoring philosophy places great emphasis on passion. Finding an avenue through which a student can really connect with the material they are learning is an approach that has worked wonders for me and the individuals I have had the pleasure to tutor. This of course stretches far beyond academics, as I encourage students to interlace their hobbies and passions to improve individual engagement. As with all aspects of my tutoring approach, I practice what I preach. I am a keen musician, playing the electric guitar and bass in front of audiences at official ticketed events, I am the Editor of the Arts and Culture Section of the Guys' Hospital newsletter: The GKT Gazette and I represent my university competitively in field hockey.
Overall, I tutor individuals so I can see them flourish, academically and beyond. I recognise the crucial role of any teacher in an individual's life, and it is paramount that they should instill students with the confidence needed to realise their full potential. I would be delighted to work with you and show you how much we can achieve together. If you have resonated with what I have said, I encourage you to book a 15 minute free trial session.
