I am really passionate about teaching and this year I have engaged in a variety of teaching roles, including volunteering as an English teacher for 3 months in Nepal. Hello! My name is Gavindu and I'm currently doing an Integrated Masters in Computer Science at the University of York. I have been tutoring for 2.5 years in Maths and Computer Science, as well as being a programming tutor for CodeNinjas. I have completed formal training in tutoring and have a lot of experience tutoring children with special needs. My teaching style consists more of building the child's interest in the subject, rather than teaching the content for the sake of it, since interest is what helps understanding and inspires further learning. I am a 2024 Law graduate from the University of Cambridge and Masters student at King's College London. Hi! I am a Masters graduate with a Distinction in Creative Writing, along with a First Class Honours degree in English Literature from Durham University. I also achieved A* in English Literature at A Level and A* in English Literature and English Language at GCSE. My lessons are generally structured around past questions from the relevant exam board. I will usually give students 5-10 minutes to read the extract and make initial notes relating to the question, before going through my own notes and how I would approach the question. This includes close analysis of key themes, literary devices and the writer's intentions, alongside a suggested essay structure which takes students through what to include paragraph by paragraph. I then give students the opportunity to begin writing a response to the question and am available to offer assistance as required. Students can then finish the question as homework and I will provide feedback in our next session - if requested, I can also provide live feedback paragraph by paragraph while you are writing. I'm currently working on the novel I wrote for my Master's degree and gathering research for my PhD next year. I'm extremely passionate about tutoring - my ambition is to become a university lecturer and published novelist.
