Hello, I'm Isla! I recently graduated from Durham University with a first-class degree in Biological Sciences. During my second and third years at university, I formally tutored students at various levels up to A-Levels. I greatly enjoy teaching and have been doing informal tutoring throughout my educational journey from GCSEs. I am keen to help students understand, engage with, and enjoy the content they are learning! I tutored Biology A-Level during my university years. My teaching style focuses on question-and-answer methods, with exam and study questions helping further enhance the student's knowledge of the subject, which helped me achieve 8/9s in GSCE science subjects and an A* in A-Level Biology. However, I will alter lessons to complement the student's needs. I explore anything the students don't understand until they feel confident about the material, using visual aids to reinforce any particular areas of difficulty. I also like to bring in extra material related to the everyday world they see and the information they are learning about. I will always work to improve their confidence in themselves and their skills. Furthermore, I have developed acute skills in writing scientific essays, literature reviews, and designing an ecology project. Therefore, I can provide feedback and offer any aid to those who want to improve in any of these areas. During my work experience and while volunteering for a SHINE project, I worked with younger kids (KS2) to provide English lessons. I immensely enjoyed teaching this subject and am enthusiastic about English. I obtained an English Literature scholarship for my A-level education, achieved an A* for English Literature A-level, and am spending my current year after my university degree working on a novel. I would love to help any student find a passion for creative writing or analysis of literature, which allows them to prepare before they go into KS3 or GCSEs. In my free time, I work on a fiction novel, sew, or hike in the wilderness. I am interested in mycology, spending lots of time looking for and identifying various fruiting fungi, and zoology, enjoying any time spent with animals! I aim to promote the same enthusiasm and inspire confidence in the students during their academic journey. Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have. I look forward to working with you and your student to achieve their academic and personal goals!

I’m Brontë, a graduate of the London School of Economics and the University of Oxford, where I completed an MPP at the Blavatnik School of Government as a Political Leadership Scholar. I am now completing my Graduate Diploma in Law before training as a barrister, having been awarded Middle Temple’s Diplock Scholarship. I have been tutoring English since I was 17 and have worked with pupils across a wide range of ages and abilities, including A-level, GCSE and Year 8 students. I have taught both English Literature and Language, and have supported students with different learning needs, including dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD. This experience has taught me that there is no single approach to teaching: I adapt my lessons, explanations and resources to suit the individual student, while ensuring they are appropriately challenged and supported. I am particularly passionate about English and essay-based subjects. I achieved Grade 9s in my essay subjects at GCSE and A*s at A-level, and went on to achieve a First Class degree at LSE. I therefore have a strong understanding of how to structure arguments, analyse texts and develop the clarity and precision needed for high-level written work. Alongside academic tutoring, I have worked with the mentoring organisation Zero Gravity, supporting students with personal statements and university applications. I am therefore also able to offer guidance on university applications, essay writing and the transition to higher education. I am also very fortunate to have an English teacher and Deputy Head at Westminster School as my mother. Her experience has given me valuable insight into effective teaching practice, selective-school entrance examinations and interviews, and I frequently draw on her expertise and resources when planning my lessons. Above all, I am friendly, enthusiastic and encouraging, while being firm when students need an extra push. I genuinely enjoy teaching and take great pride in seeing my students grow in both confidence and ability. My aim is to create a supportive environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and pushing themselves to achieve their best.

Hi! My name is Rosie, and I am a 3rd year undergraduate student studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Bristol, currently achieving a 1st class grade. This year I was also a finalist in the Undergraduate of the Year Awards! At the age of 14 I set up my own tutoring business, which has been running successfully for 5 years, and during this time I have provided a wide variety of online and in-person tutoring sessions, each one tailored to the individual needs of the student. I have experience working with pupils with a range of SEND needs, especially ADHD. In school, I achieved 10 grade 9 results at GCSE, and A*, A*, A*, A* at A-Level in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry. I was also awarded the Physics attainment award for achieving the top grade in my sixth form, as well as a Bucks Young Scientist of the Year Award in Physics, in 2022. I have competed in multiple maths, chemistry and physics Olympiads throughout my school experience, often achieving gold awards in these events. I believe that these results show my skill and dedication to these subjects, as well as my ability to perform well in exams. A large part of my tutoring sessions focus on exam technique, so that students can access their full potential under the pressure of an exam situation. In 2023 I deferred my place at university to gain some more experience before entering undergraduate study, and for 3 months I worked full time in a secondary school as a teacher assistant. This has provided me with lots of classroom experience, helping students in their studies and organisational skills from Year 7 all the way up to Year 13. During this time I built up confidence and ability in teaching, with a keen focus on aiding SEND pupils. I absolutely love tutoring; creating an interactive and enjoyable learning environment for a pupil to access the support they need is one of the most rewarding feelings. If you would like to know more, please do not hesitate to contact me and arrange a 15 minute trial session to get started!
